Beginning February 2014 traffic on Broadway between Alameda Avenue and Virginia Street will be impacted while crews conduct important storm sewer work. Construction on this portion of Broadway is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2014. Once complete, the project will help capture and convey stormwater in the area and mitigate flooding.
To accommodate construction along Broadway, the two east lanes from Alaska to Virginia will be closed until the end of August 2014. There will be no on-street parking along the east side of the street during the construction period. Construction on Broadway is anticipated to be completed by the end of August 2014.
The last phase of the project will be Virginia. There will be no access to Virginia off of Broadway going south until October 2014. At that time, all construction of this project will be completed.
During construction, drivers should anticipate delays through this section of Broadway, especially during afternoon peak driving hours. Drivers are encouraged to utilize Santa Fe Boulevard or Kalamath Street as an alternative route. The public’s patience and cooperation during construction is greatly appreciated. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Broadway Street Closure
Access to Virginia street off of Broadway will not be open until October 2014.
